Here’s another great some from Epica from their album The Classical Conspiracy.This a really good album which has a lot classical, symphonic style music mixed with Progressive Metal.
Epica just keeps on delivering high quality Progressive Metal music and will surely go down as one of the best bands around in such genre.
The highly recommended song on this post is called The Last Crusade. Needs no further introduction, just listen to it yourself and see what I mean when I say Epica is a top band.

Therion – The Rise Of Sodom And Gomorrah (Live)

Here’s and example as to why Therion in my opinion is the best true Progressive Metal band around.
On this post I decided to add a video I found on Youtube from apparently Therion’s new CD and DVD Miskolc Experience.
An incredible display of how well Heavy Metal Music blends with a classical orchestra. I suppose its the Gothic sound that Progressive Metal Music captures which seems to go so well hand in hand with the ancient sound of Classical music.
Therion has been around since 1987 starting out as a Death Metal band. They’ve gradually evolved and matured into a fine professional, original sounding Progressive Metal band that just keep inventing their own style and trend.
The song “The Rise Of Sodom And Gomorrah” is origianlly from their album Vovin which is excellent as well. I personally have every one of Therion’s albums and listen to them quite often, Vovin is one album without exception which has many fascinating and enjoyable songs which are more Classical music based.
Have a watch of this excellent video of Therion jamming with a huge Classical orchestral band.

Battlelore – Sons Of Riddermark

Battlelore is a symphonic metal band from Lappeenranta, Finland. All of Battlelore’s lyrics concern J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth.
Great band Battlelore and like many Progressive Metal groups from Finland they just keep producing some of the most amazing music.
Battlemore uses growling style singing combined with the female vocalist voice. Both vocalists Kaisa Jouhki & Tomi Mykkänen are great and blend really well together giving that kind of “beauty and the beast” duet type of Metal sound.
Battlemore have a few albums but the one I like the best is Sword’s Song which was brought out in 2003. Great album from beginning to end and worth buying.

Omega Lithium – Andromeda

Omega Lithium is a Croatian industrial metal / gothic metal band. The band was formed in 2007 and is signed to Drakkar Entertainment and Sony BMG.^[1] The band’s debut album, Dreams in Formaline, was released on 18 September 2009.

The first single from the debut album was “Stigmata”. The single was played on the MTV rock chart ^[2]^[3] and peaked to the 4 place on the MTV Adria Rock chart (receiving a constant airplay for more than 2 months). The video appeared on other European and worldwide TV stations in their daily charts.

This a new discovery I found on Youtube and so far after listening to their album Dreams In Formaline I am totally impressed. Great vocalist and great band. Nice heavy Progressive Metal sounding music balanced by a really great female vocalist voice from singer Mya Mortensen.
According to the information found on Wkipedia the Band Omega Lithium only began back in 2007 which makes them a fairly new group. I’m sure their going to become quite popular over time because they have some really good quality stuff.

EDGUY – Tinnitus Sanctus

Edguy is a power metal band from Fulda, Germany that was formed in 1992.
Edguy was founded in 1992 by 14-year-old students Tobias Sammet, Jens Ludwig, Dirk Sauer, and Dominik Storch.
Since signing with Nuclear Blast, Edguy has released two full-length albums, followed by their latest, Tinnitus Sanctus, and has extended their contract for three more albums.
For this post I have selected a song callled Ministry Of Saints from their album callled Tinnitus Sanctus.
Edguy has some really good stuff from what I’ve heard so far and worth a listen.

Serenity is a melodic power metal band from Austria with progressive, power and symphonic influences.
Serenity is a band that I happened to stumble onto while checking out Youtube music and immediately liked their stuff. The bands music is just right and the vocalist sounds really good as well.
The song for this post is called Dead Man Walking from Serenity’s album Fallen Sanctuary. I listened to quite a few song from this album and found it hard to chose which song to pick for this post cause they’re all pretty good.

Age Of Nemesis – Fate’s Door

Age of Nemesis is a Hungarian progressive metal band that formed in 1997 as Nemesis and later changed their name to Age of Nemesis in 2005. They are heavily influenced by Dream Theater and Symphony X.
I am quite impressed by the actual instrumental Progressive Metal played by this band Age Of Nemisis.
The song featured on this post is called Fate’s Door from their album Psychogeist. Really good song that I guarantee will sound better the second time you hear it.

Elis – Remember The Promise

This album Griefshire from Elis is really, really good. I went ahead and downloaded the whole album which is pretty rare coming from me because normally I just select a few songs from each album that I like.
Featured song for this post is called Remember The Promise, the Youtube sound quality doesn’t really do it any justice because it doesn’t compare to listening to it through your headphones with the original CD quality recording.
This song is one of those type that you can play in the background while having a few drinks with your friends. The song isn’t overpowering but also isn’t mellow either.
Listen to it a couple of times and see what I mean. Really good stuff.

Here’s another pretty good band that is sort of similar to Nightwish and Epica called Coronatus.
Coronatus was founded in 1999 by Georgios Grigoriadis and Mats Kurth

I’ve been going through a few of their songs on Youtube and finding some pretty impressive stuff from Coronatus which I will add in the next coming days. Pretty good band overall, don’t know much about them yet but I like what I hear.

Amon Amarth – Fate Of Norns

I have to say that I’m really starting to like Amon Amarth. Considering that the band grunts rather than sings which is not usually my kind of choice for music, Amon Amarth is a bit different to the usual grunting and screaming Metal bands.
First of all the band revolves its music around the Viking era and is usually just has lyrics about battles and travels as Vikings do. Its all just entertainment and enjoyable to listen to.
Amon Amarth’s music is also kind of up beat and in some ways kind of music you can dance to as well.
Really good stuff, probably not everyone’s kind of taste but it can grow on you like it has with me.

Elis – Phoenix From The Ashes

I love the band Elis and they’re one of my favorite Progressive Metal bands.
Sabine Dünser tragic death sure took the band Elis into another direction but they found a new lead singer called Sandra Schleret which is fantastic as a new vocalist for the band.
This featured song called Phoenix From The Ashes is from the album Griefshire which was released in 2006, features new singer Sandra Schleret. Great album from beginning to end.

Nightwish – Once

What else can you say other than the fact that Nightwish is a great band. Doesn’t matter whether the original singer Tarja or new singer Anette Olzon is the lead vocalist, Nightwish is a must have for any Progressive Music Collection.

The Once album has got to be one of my all time favorites from the Nightwish collection.

Here’s another really good song from the group Epica called Menance Of Vanity from their album The Divine Conspiracy.
The song has really good orchestral sounds and great power Metal guitar. This album is really good from beginning to end and it just gets better the more you listen to it.
This song featured called Menace Of Vanity is great but the Youtube sound quality really doesn’t do it justice compared to the proper CD quality you get from Amazon or itunes. Nevertheless, it gives you the feel and taste of the song.

Blackthorn – Gossamer Witchcraft

Found this group on Youtube today and I haven’t been really able to find much info on them at all other than bits and pieces suggesting that Blackthorn is a Goth Metal band from Russia which include 4 female and 1 male band members. Don’t quote me on this as I don’t know anything about them. Some Of Blackthorns music sounds quite good and I do appreciate it when a band is a bit different which Blackthorn is.
For this post I introduce the song called Edenbeast. This song has a a Gothic Metal sound to it as quite a good one.

If anyone knows more about this band then why not share it and write up a comment about what you know.

Epica has some really great music and probably one of my favorite albums is the Divine Conspiracy album which was released in 2007. As a matter of fact the album Divine Conspiracy is brilliant, every song has something special, blending many different styles from classical, Arabic, Jazz and Progressive Metal.
Epica is a must have music for anyone one that is a fan of Progressive Metal and if your not sure which album to get out from Epica’s many, then consider Divine Conspiracy as your first choice. It’s my favorite Epica album.

Abonos – All Souls Night

I came across purely by luck a band that I’ve never heard of before called Abonos on Youtube.
As soon as I heard their song All Souls Night I thought I’ve got to have this song. I absolutely love it. Probably one of the best Progressive Metal songs I’ve heard in a while. Only one problem!, they can’t be found anywhere. I tried seeing if I could buy their song or album from iTunes but no luck as they didn’t even exist there. I also checked out Amazon and no luck, not even Limewire or anywhere. The only place there was a mention of them was in Wikipedia and LastFM but there is no way to buy any of their songs.

From what Wikipedia states, Abonos is a Serbian Gothic Metal band and mentions the name of the bands members. Also there is a bit on info about their albums.
I was really disappointed that I could not get access to any of their music other than through Youtube.
I hope that Abonos decides to release some stuff because I feel they have a lot of potential and would become very popular.
Have a listen to this song called All Souls Night by Abonos, the sound quality isn’t great but its enough to show how good this band really is.

Leaves’ Eyes – My Destiny

Leaves’ Eyes was formed by Liv Kristine’s (lead singer) husband Alexander Krull and members of his band Atrocity. The band combines atmospheric, heavy metal and classical elements. The melodic singing vocals of Liv Kristine are occasionally backed up by death growled vocals from Krull, identified under the vocal style Kristine refers to as “beauty and the beast”.
Leaves’ Eyes are a pretty good band, their first album Lovelorn was released back in 2003 and have released quite a few albums since then. This post features a song called My Destiny from their latest 2009 album also called My Destiny.
Leaves’s Eyes is a little less heavier than a few other Progressive Metal bands but they do have quite a few good songs.

Aesma Daeva – Dawn Of The New Athens

Aesma Daeva is incredible. Vocalist Melissa Ferlaak and the accompanied band is just a great example of quality Progressive Symphonic Metal. This band is one of my favorites without a doubt.
Aesma Daeva blends Metal and Opera perfectly without any effects or efforts, they just sound different to many others. There style of electric guitar is just the way I like it as well.
Highly recommend.
Have a listen to one of their songs from their album Dawn Of The New Athens called Hymm To The Sun, the song is simple yet brilliant.

Masterplan – MkII

Masterplan is a German power metal band founded by Uli Kusch and Roland Grapow and they are excellent, totally recommend them.
Masterplan’s song Enemy from their album MKII feature here on this posts Youtube video is one of my favorites and comes to you highly recommended.
I love Progressive Metal groups with great vocalists and excellent guitarists and Masterplan gets all just right. There music also has positive messages throughout the whole range of their albums which date back to about 2003, a fairly new band which have produced really great music.
Have a listen to Enemy from Masterplan’s album MKII.
I do apologize for the strange cartoon video that accompanies the song but I chose this because all the other videos with the same song Enemy had very poor quality sound, this is pretty good.

Firewind – Allegiance

Here’s another great song by the Greek Power Metal group Firewind called Insanity from their Album Allegiance. What an impressive band which not only sounds great but also every song has a positive message to it.
Firebird is a band that I highly recommend, their albums go back to 1998 and are really good although I recommend more the two last albums Allegiance and The Premonition.

Firewind – The Premonition

Whilst going through blindly some music on Youtube I happened to stumble onto this group called Firewind and immediately I was impressed by the quality album The Premonition.
Firewind is a Greek power metal band which really seems to get right balance between over powered fast Metal music and too slow. Their music also has a positive message and is highly recommended.
Great voice and great music.
I’m really impressed by this group and I will be considering buying the whole album The Premonition.

Lechery – Violator

Don’t know much about this band Lechery. Happend to just find them on Youtube and although not quite a Progressive Metal band I kind of really like the song Come Alive. They sound like your traditional sort of 90′s style metal band, you know the ones with the long hair and make up types. Tried looking them up on Wikipedia and found only a tiny bit of information about them. Could it be that there not very popular or not well known, well I wouldn’t have clue, nevertheless this song Come Alive is pretty good. I went ahead and downloaded it onto my Ipod and don’t regret spending the money. The song sounds much better when its crisp clear compared to this Youtube video appearing on this post, then again it sounds pretty good compared to a lot of other videos found on Youtube.
Have a listen, you might like it.

Therion – Gothic Kabbalah

Gothic Kabbalah is one of Therion’s latest creations and was released back in 2007. The album is a two CD set with many great songs. Gothic Kabala is slightly different to Therion’s previous albums, the songs feel a little more modern and not as epic as previously released stuff. Nevertheless Gothic Kabbalah is still a great buy and does pack a punch with its songs like Der Mitternachtslöwe, Gothic Kabbalah and Tuna 1613.

This is a must have album for any fan of Therion.
The song featured on this post is called Der Mitternachtslöwe and its one of my favorites on the album Gothic Kabbalah. This song gets better as it gets deeper into the song, really worth the listen.

Therion – Lemuria

Therion’s song Abraxas from the album Lemuria.
Therion’s album Lemuria has got to be one of their best. The sound of this album reminds me of something ancient, kind of like mythological and epic. The whole Lemuria is excellent, most sung in opera and set the standards for true pure Progressive Metal which can only be done by Therion.
Check out the song Abraxas which has excellent background music and a nice operatic voice which suit perfectly.

The video tells the story of a man that, after coming back home with his wife, is shot in a burglary. The man begins to see people following and haunting him everywhere, these actually being the band members. He descends into madness and is taken to an insane asylum. The doctors of this asylum are the same people who followed him in the streets, squares and in his home. The video ends with the hospital in ruins and a shot of a newspaper proclaiming: “Man is shot to death by burglar in his home”.
